Landlocked Developing Countries

The United Nations has observed the first International Day for Awareness of the Development Needs and Challenges Specific to Landlocked Developing Countries. The day highlights the structural difficulties faced by the 32 countries without sea access, including high trade and transport costs and dependence on neighbouring transit states. The UN Office of the High Representative for Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries and Small Island Developing States is leading awareness efforts.
