Keith Jarrett

A quote from jazz pianist Keith Jarrett is being shared: "Music always turns into music. As soon as I play a key, push a key down, there's no theory any more. When I go and I hear a sound on the keyboard, all theories go out the window." The reflection on instinct over theory is credited with a photograph by Tasuhisa Yoneda for ECM Records.

People are sharing that they are listening to Keith Jarrett's Sun Bear Concerts, specifically the Sapporo Pt.2 disc from the 1976 live solo piano series recorded in Japan. The improvised concerts remain a touchstone among fans of solo piano and jazz, and listeners are posting their current plays of the box set.
