New investigative reporting by Investico finds that almost half of the members of the Dutch House of Representatives delivered AI-generated texts in parliamentary debates this year. The finding has sparked discussion in the Netherlands about transparency and the growing role of artificial intelligence in national politics, with questions over whether MPs should disclose when machine-written material is used.

Investico and De Groene collected all prepared speech texts from Dutch parliamentary debates between 1 January and 30 September and analysed them with AI detection tool Pangram. The findings suggest that only at the Party for the Animals, SP and Volt does something notable appear regarding AI use in prepared contributions, sparking discussion about how much of politicians' debate input is written with artificial intelligence.
