Gomi, a design studio based in Brighton, is giving discarded Barbie dolls a second life by turning their plastic parts into colourful consumer tech gadgets. The initiative highlights a creative approach to e-waste and toy plastic recycling, transforming items that would otherwise end up in landfill into functional, vibrant products.

Kitanakagusuku village in Okinawa Prefecture is recruiting participants for an 'e-SpoGOMI' stage event combining e-sports competition with litter collection, scheduled for November 21. The format, which has spread across Japan in recent years, turns picking up trash into a team-based competitive game scored on strategy and collection results. Japanese tech and gaming media have picked up the call for entrants.
