Protesters from the Mexican Union of Electricians (SME) decapitated a statue of former president Felipe Calderón. The union blames Calderón for the 2009 liquidation of the state electricity company Luz y Fuerza del Centro, which cost thousands of electricians their jobs, and he is also widely associated with launching the militarised 'drug war' that brought years of violence to Mexico.
