Edmundo

Brazilian outlets are looking at how former athletes fared in the 2026 elections, with former Vasco and Palmeiras striker Edmundo among the most-searched names. Coverage compiles the results of ex-players who ran for office, and readers are checking whether the ex-stars won or lost their bids.

The party founded by Edmundo Bal, the former Citizens MP who left politics in 2023, is proposing a broad centre coalition ahead of the elections on 29 November. The proposal seeks to unite centrist forces under one electoral platform, and the idea is drawing attention in Spain amid ongoing fragmentation of the centre-right vote.

Former Vasco da Gama striker Edmundo has been elected to public office in Brazil's 2026 elections, joining a wave of ex-athletes who ran this year. Outlets such as CartaCapital are rounding up how other former sports figures fared at the ballot box, and voters are debating the performance of celebrity candidates overall.
