EPIC study

Researchers with the International Agency for Research on Cancer analysed pre-diagnostic untargeted plasma metabolomics data within the European Prospective Investigation into Cancer and Nutrition (EPIC) to assess whether metabolic signatures measured before diagnosis predict the risk of triple-negative breast cancer. The prospective design strengthens the findings, as metabolic markers were recorded years before any cancer appeared. The study may help identify biological pathways and early indicators for this aggressive cancer subtype.
