Cormac McCarthy

A priest or parishioner writes in America Magazine that a Cormac McCarthy novel split a Catholic parish book club into opposing camps. The piece describes how the novel's violence and bleakness provoked sharply divided reactions among the group's members, turning a routine reading pick into a heated argument about faith, morality and what belongs in church discussion groups.

The Wall Street Journal reviews 'Cormac McCarthy', a new biography examining the reclusive American novelist's life and career. The review describes the book as mapping McCarthy's long road from his early years to literary fame through works such as Blood Meridian and The Road, drawing renewed attention to one of the defining figures of American fiction.
