Chinon

History enthusiasts are marking the anniversary of the death of Jean Poton de Xaintrailles, who died on this day in 1461. Xaintrailles served as one of the chief lieutenants of Joan of Arc during the Hundred Years' War and later fought to clear the English from France. The anniversary is drawing attention to sites in the Loire Valley, including Chinon, associated with Joan of Arc's campaign.
