Cardinal Gambetti

Cardinal Mauro Gambetti, appointed to lead St. Peter's Basilica by Pope Francis, is leaving his Vatican post under Pope Leo XIV and has been named Archbishop of Chieti. The move is part of the new pontiff's reshaping of the Roman Curia, and Italian media are highlighting the departure of a prelate closely associated with Bergoglio's reign.

Cardinal Mauro Gambetti is being welcomed as the new archbishop of Chieti-Vasto, succeeding Monsignor Bruno Forte. The CEAM diocesan association publicly bade farewell to Forte and greeted Gambetti, with local Abruzzo outlets reporting the transition. Forte led the diocese for over a decade, and the handover marks a significant change for the Catholic Church in the region.

The Italian Episcopal Conference has announced that Cardinal Gambetti has been appointed Archbishop of Chieti-Vasto. The news is drawing attention in Italy, where the cardinal is a prominent figure in the Catholic Church, and coverage is circulating through official Church channels and Italian media.

Italian cardinal Mauro Gambetti is trending after reports that the Chiesa Teatina in Vasto, Abruzzo, has become a cardinalatial seat in connection with him. Local outlet Piazza Rossetti reported the designation, drawing attention in Italy and pushing his name into trending searches in Mexico and Spain. Gambetti is a senior figure in the Vatican, best known as archpriest of the papal basilica of St. Francis in Assisi.
