A trail camera on the Bronx River has photographed a North American river otter, the first confirmed sighting there in roughly 100 years, a sign the waterway's cleanup is paying off. Conservationists have launched a petition calling on New York to ban trapping of otters, arguing the species' hard-won return should not be put at risk by trapping that remains legal in parts of the state.
