Botong Francisco

Filipino artists are criticizing the Sofitel hotel's decision to sell a painting by national artist Carlos 'Botong' Francisco to a Singapore art gallery, warning that the sale represents a loss of the country's cultural heritage. Francisco, one of the Philippines' most celebrated painters, is known for works depicting Filipino history and life, and critics argue such pieces should remain in the country.
