Bosjes van Pex

Several young athletes have been robbed or threatened at a sports park in The Hague, in an area known locally as the Bosjes van Pex. Police say a youth gang is behind the attacks and are deploying extra officers to the park and surrounding streets to protect visitors and track down the suspects.

Dutch media report that a 15-year-old boy was riding a mountain bike capable of 84 km/h and threw the bike at police, leaving a female officer with serious injuries. It follows other Gelderland incidents: a trauma helicopter was called to a crash in Apeldoorn, a boy on a fatbike was hospitalised after a hard fall, and a 13-year-old was assaulted in the Bosjes van Pex. Commentators are linking the cases to fast modified bikes and youth safety.
