Arthur Conan Doyle

Writer and Sherlock Holmes specialist David Stuart Davies has provided publisher Pan Macmillan with a guide to reading Arthur Conan Doyle's Holmes works. With four novels and fifty-six short stories in the canon, Davies addresses the common question of which story newcomers should pick up first, offering readers a recommended starting point for the classic detective fiction.

A new Sherlock Holmes television series has officially been announced with an adults-only rating, marking a darker, more mature take on Arthur Conan Doyle's detective than most previous adaptations. Details on the cast, network and release date have not yet been confirmed, but news of the project is spreading quickly among fans of the character.
