Apertus

Switzerland has introduced Apertus, the country's first large-scale, fully open and multilingual language model. It was developed by researchers at ETH Zurich and EPFL, with the project promoting transparency and open access. The launch is drawing attention in open-source and Linux communities, where commentators are welcoming a European alternative to proprietary AI models from major US companies.
