Alex Haley

A project titled 'Remembering Roots' is documenting the enduring impact of Alex Haley's landmark 1976 book 'Roots: The Saga of an American Family', which traced his ancestry from Gambia through slavery in America. The work highlights how the book, and its 1977 television adaptation, shaped conversations about race, heritage and family history, and why its influence still resonates decades later.
