AI laser locking

Quantum computing firm QuEra has detailed how it uses AI to automatically lock and tune the lasers that control its quantum computers, replacing manual alignment work. Keeping laser systems stable is a critical and labor-intensive task for neutral-atom quantum machines, and the company says automation makes its systems more reliable and easier to operate at scale.

Optical technology company Lumentum says its AI-related optical components are fully sold out through 2029, with demand from data center and AI infrastructure buildouts far exceeding supply. The announcement underscores how tight supply chains have become for the lasers and optics used to move data between AI chips, with customers locking in capacity years in advance.
