The Wildlife Trusts has warned that the spread of industrial-scale 'mega-dairies' in Britain is pushing nature to breaking point. The conservation group says large, intensive dairy units concentrate huge numbers of cows on little land, driving demand for imported feed and generating manure pollution that harms rivers and wildlife. It is calling for farming policy that supports smaller, more nature-friendly dairy systems.
