Apple is expected to announce additional hardware before the end of the year, following this month's debut of the iPhone 18 Pro and the folding iPhone Duo. Reported upcoming products include a new version of the HomePod mini, the iPad mini 8, and an updated Apple TV 4K, signaling an unusually packed late-year release schedule for the company.

A tech writer has been testing what the upcoming iPhone Duo's large screen might feel like by using an iPad mini alongside an iPhone 18 Pro, ahead of the device's launch. The experiment offers early impressions of how apps and content could scale on Apple's rumored larger display, drawing attention as speculation about the iPhone Duo builds ahead of its release.

Apple's next small tablet, the iPad Mini 8, is reported to ship with the same powerful chip expected in the iPhone 18 Pro. If accurate, the compact device would gain the company's fastest mobile processor yet, a significant performance jump over the current iPad Mini and an unusual level of power for Apple's smallest tablet category.

Lux Optics has released a new update to Halide, its manually focused camera app for iPhone and iPad that positions itself as an alternative to Apple's algorithm-driven default camera. The update introduces two new photography looks and adds support for the variable aperture on the main camera of the new iPhone 18 Pro, letting photographers take fuller advantage of the hardware.

A new report claims Apple's upcoming iPad mini will use an A20 Pro processor and feature a landscape-oriented front camera, a design change long requested by users for video calls. Details on timing or other specifications were not given, but the reported upgrades suggest Apple plans meaningful hardware improvements rather than a minor refresh for the small tablet.
