The Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources has released juvenile hellbenders, North America's largest salamanders, back into the wild as part of efforts to restore the species. The reintroduction aims to rebuild declining populations of the aquatic amphibian in Kentucky waterways, where habitat loss and water quality issues have driven long-term declines.
