Colossal Biosciences has been named the 2026 Gizmodo Science Fair winner, recognised for the genomic pipeline behind its dire wolf and red wolf projects. The Dallas-based de-extinction company drew attention last year for announcing the birth of engineered dire wolf-like wolves, and the award highlights the gene-editing and sequencing tools developed for that work as well as its efforts supporting endangered red wolf conservation.
