Researchers, including Italy's National Institute for Nuclear Physics, report that theoretical physics methods have helped reveal the molecular mechanisms of extra-chromosomal DNA in tumours. These DNA fragments, which sit outside normal chromosomes, are known to drive cancer growth and drug resistance, and the new modelling work offers fresh insight into how they behave inside tumour cells.
