chestnuts

One of the last remaining groves of American chestnut trees in the United States is reportedly set to be cleared to make way for a data center. The American chestnut, once among the country's most important trees, was nearly wiped out by blight in the 20th century, making surviving groves ecologically precious. Critics say the plan highlights the growing conflict between data infrastructure expansion and the protection of rare natural habitats.
