Week of Respect

A photographer documented a Roosevelt elk cow, also known as wapiti, grazing in a field earlier this week. She belongs to a large herd that includes calves and a single bull, which was photographed a few days earlier. The photographer noted the animal stayed unusually relaxed despite humans nearby, as elk normally avoid people, and kept a respectful distance.
