European payment providers Bancomat, Bizum, EPI Company/Wero, SIBS MB WAY and Vipps MobilePay have joined forces to create ENP, a new alliance aimed at competing with dominant US payment networks. Together the founding members serve around 130 million users across 13 European countries, covering more than 70% of the EU population, in a bid to strengthen Europe's payment sovereignty.

Swedish fintech Klarna's card can now be used for contactless payments through the Norwegian mobile wallet Vipps. At the same time, Swedish users are being offered cashback on their first purchases made with the card. The integration links Klarna's pay-later services with Vipps, one of the dominant payment apps in Norway, and is seen as a notable step in Nordic mobile payment competition.
