Vechta

Rasta Vechta have lost all four of their opening Bundesliga basketball games and sit bottom of the table. They now face ratiopharm Ulm, where former successful coach is part of the backdrop, and urgently need a first victory of the season to turn things around.

Police in the Vechta district report that unknown thieves stole tools from a locked barn on a property in Lohne, Lower Saxony. The theft took place overnight between Monday and Tuesday. Investigators are asking witnesses for information, and the case is being handled as a routine property crime.

Lower Saxony's Bundesliga basketball clubs have swapped roles this season. Vechta, who reached the playoff quarter-finals and qualified for the Champions League, have slumped after a poor start to the campaign, with the early euphoria giving way to sober reflection. Braunschweig, meanwhile, entered the league on a wildcard but are sitting near the top of the table, a surprising turnaround for the promoted side.

Science City Jena and Vechta face off in the easyCredit Basketball Bundesliga with both still winless after two matchdays. Only Phoenix Hagen joins them without a victory, so one of the two sides will finally claim a first win of the season. Attention is on which struggling team can break its drought in this early-season clash.
