US Customs is moving to block prescription drugs imported from Canada, according to a Wall Street Journal report. Many Americans, especially those without adequate insurance, have relied on buying cheaper medications from Canadian pharmacies, where prices are often far lower than in the United States. The change could leave patients facing higher costs or going without needed medicines.

A Blue Cross Blue Shield analysis found that AI tools used by hospitals when submitting insurance claims added $942 million to US healthcare costs over two years. The study recorded a sharp rise in patients being documented with complex conditions, without evidence of a corresponding change in their actual health, suggesting the tools may be inflating billing codes and driving up claim costs.
