The New York Times reports that the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has been left 'zombified' after losing nearly a third of its staff and much of its independence. Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and his associates have tightened control over the agency, which is now struggling to carry out its core scientific and public health mission.
