Tarfaya

The Spanish coastguard has picked up around 60 migrants a few kilometres off the Moroccan coast near Tarfaya and brought them to the Canary Islands. The migrants are expected to be transferred to mainland Spain, from where some may continue on to other European countries. The rescue is part of a continuing pattern of crossings from West Africa to the Canaries, which keeps fueling debate in Spain and across Europe over migration policy, border controls and how arrivals are distributed among EU states.
