The United States lags in domestic production of memory chips, an industry dominated by Asian manufacturers such as Samsung, SK Hynix and Micron's rivals in South Korea and Taiwan. A new analysis argues that the Trump administration's tariff policies risk making the situation worse by raising costs for imported components and complicating efforts to build up US chip manufacturing capacity.
