Solar eclipse 2026

Interest is growing in the total solar eclipse expected on 12 August 2026, which will be visible from Iceland and northern Spain, including cities such as Madrid, Zaragoza and Valencia. It will be the first total solar eclipse visible in mainland Europe since 1999. In Germany, the moon will cover only part of the sun, prompting many to discuss travelling south for the full spectacle.
