Workers at the Detroit Historical Society have won union recognition with AFSCME, the large public-sector union. The victory means museum and society staff will gain collective bargaining representation. It adds to a wave of organizing among cultural workers in museums and archives across the United States, where employees have sought better pay, job security and a voice in workplace decisions.
