Quantum Computing

The University of Colorado Boulder's Department of Computer Science is hiring four tenure-track faculty members, with openings in quantum computing, two roles in artificial intelligence, and computer architecture and systems. Job listings and application links are available on the department's website, and academics are being asked to share the announcement widely with qualified candidates in these fast-growing research fields.

The French technology group Thales is being discussed for its work across drones, artificial intelligence and quantum technologies in the defence and aerospace sectors. A French-language news post linking to Les Echos coverage highlights the company's innovation push, framing a trajectory from robotics and AI to quantum computing and its defence applications.

A tested workflow is circulating for producing publication-grade Bloch spheres and quantum circuit diagrams on Android devices using Matplotlib in Termux, useful when full Qiskit wheels fail to build on ARM. It offers researchers and students a portable way to prepare figures without a desktop Python setup.

Physicists report a breakthrough in controlling light in three dimensions, which they say unlocks quantum states previously considered impossible. The work could influence future research in quantum computing, photonics and advanced materials. Details of the finding and its practical implications remain limited, but the claim of reaching 'impossible' states is drawing attention across the physics community.

Quantum computing company D-Wave and the University of Arkansas have launched a joint initiative aimed at applying quantum technology to supply chain problems. The collaboration will focus on using quantum computing to tackle logistics and optimisation challenges, though details on funding, staffing and specific projects were not included in the initial announcement.
