Pacific Island nations are hosting a pre-COP climate meeting, giving the region a rare spotlight ahead of the UN climate summit. However, Reuters reports the guest list is thin, with limited high-level international attendance. The Pacific is among the regions most exposed to rising seas, and organisers had hoped the venue would press major emitters on stronger commitments. Low turnout is being read as a sign of waning engagement from big polluters.
