The Nebraska Department of Education has launched a recipe contest called Battle of the Beans, inviting residents to submit bean-based recipes. The competition, announced by the department and covered by regional news outlets including Chadron radio stations KCSR and KBPY, appears to promote nutritious, affordable cooking in schools and communities. Details on prizes and deadlines were not specified in the initial coverage.

KCSR/KBPY radio is highlighting that health cannot be measured by weight alone, arguing that mental well-being matters just as much as the number on the scale. The commentary stresses that struggles with mental health often go unseen, and encourages listeners to take emotional wellness seriously alongside physical health, particularly as conversations about whole-person health grow.
