Edison Design Group has made its C++ front-end publicly available, ending a long period in which the compiler component was licensed only to commercial customers. The EDG front-end has long been used inside major compilers and toolchains, so its public release is significant news for compiler developers, tooling authors and researchers who can now build on it directly.
