A new project called ESP-SDR demonstrates how Espressif's ESP32 Wi-Fi chips can be used for raw IQ capture, effectively repurposing commodity hardware as a software-defined radio front end. The developer, known as Jeija, published details on the Espargos project site, and the work is drawing attention among hardware and radio enthusiasts for showing what low-cost consumer chips can do beyond their intended use.
