A parenting essay explores whether friendships between mothers can endure once their children are no longer close. The piece argues that mom friendships built on shared years of carpools, birthdays and school events often have value beyond the kids who brought the women together, though some readers say distance between children naturally pulls the mothers apart too.

A Times of Israel opinion piece argues that while a country cannot be run like a startup, it shares a key need: a bold, coherent vision to guide its future. The author suggests that without such direction, governments drift from short-term fix to short-term fix, whereas ambitious long-term goals can unite citizens and drive national progress, much as they do for successful companies.

Personal finance commentary is explaining rebalancing: the practice of restoring a portfolio to its target allocation by selling assets that have grown and buying those that have lagged, keeping risk in check without market predictions. The explanation uses a simple example — an 80/20 stock-bond mix drifting over time — to show how the discipline works.

A developer scanned four popular Python libraries and found documentation quietly drifting out of date: functions gain new parameters over time while the docstrings above them still describe older versions. The observation is resonating with programmers who recognise the pattern, sparking discussion about how open-source projects maintain documentation as code evolves and what tools could catch these silent inconsistencies.

A spent stage from a SpaceX rocket is on a collision course with the moon and expected to impact its far side in the coming days. The object has been drifting through space for years and cannot be steered. Scientists say the crash should throw up a plume of debris that telescopes may be able to observe, offering a rare chance to study the lunar subsurface.

Instagram has introduced a 'tune my algorithm' feature, giving users some say over what their feed shows them. The Conversation notes that 'algorithm' has drifted from a pure mathematical term to everyday shorthand for what social media serves us, yet most users still understand little about how ranking works or how much control the new settings actually provide.

Japan has climbed to fourth place worldwide in cryptocurrency adoption, according to Chainalysis's latest Geography of Crypto Report. The jump is drawing attention in Japan, with commentary asking whether Japanese investors are starting to move money out of the yen. Discussion points to stablecoins, bitcoin, peer-to-peer trading and cross-border transfers, linked to a weak yen and a growing drift away from the Japanese currency.
