Constantinople

Nectarius, Archbishop of Constantinople from 381 until his death in 397, is commemorated on his feast day, which falls today. He led the city's church during a formative period for early Christianity, shortly after Constantinople became the imperial capital. The anniversary is prompting posts recalling his role and the history of Istanbul, the modern city on the site of ancient Constantinople.
