Clinch River

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission has issued the country's first construction permit for a BWRX-300 small modular reactor, for the Tennessee Valley Authority's Clinch River site. It is a milestone for next-generation nuclear power in the United States, clearing a key regulatory hurdle for a reactor developed by GE Vernova's Hitachi joint venture and seen as a step toward commercializing smaller, cheaper nuclear plants.
