October 4 marks National Golf Day, and commentators are highlighting a curious fact: golf is the only sport ever played on the Moon. Apollo 14 astronaut Alan Shepard famously hit two golf balls on the lunar surface in 1971, using a makeshift club attached to a tool handle. The detail is being shared as a lighthearted tribute to the sport on its celebratory day.
