Anthrax

A researcher at a plague research institute in Siberia has died after being infected with anthrax in a laboratory accident. Russian authorities have placed the facility under quarantine, restricting access and monitoring staff who may have been exposed. The incident has raised concerns about safety protocols at institutes handling dangerous pathogens and revived debate over biosecurity standards in Russian research facilities.

The outlet argues the silencing is the worst possible response, warning that hiding infections risks letting the disease spread unchecked across the remote region and beyond.
