56k.rip

A website called 56k.rip offers a recreation of what using the internet felt like in 1996, complete with the slow dial-up modem era atmosphere. The project has drawn attention on Hacker News, where commenters are reminiscing about the days of 56k modems, screeching connection sounds and the early web. It taps into broad nostalgia for the pre-broadband internet among developers and long-time web users.
