airdrop for non-apple devices
omdrop-owl is a Linux tool that implements Apple's AWDL protocol so non-Apple Wi-Fi chips (MediaTek, Realtek) can do AirDrop with iPhones. It packages an OWL-based helper for Arch/Omarchy, Debian/Ubuntu, Fedora, and NixOS, with a CLI (or Omarchy bar plugin) to discover peers, send files, and receive them into ~/Downloads.
Why now: Trending on GitHub's most-starred new repos thanks to a demo video and working AirDrop interop on ordinary Linux Wi-Fi hardware — a long-sought capability.
Who it is for: Linux users — especially Omarchy/Arch laptop owners — who want to AirDrop files to and from iPhones without Apple hardware.
