Run a command once, reuse its output for a while.
once is a Go CLI that caches a command's stdout in a small per-user background daemon, so repeated calls with the same command, directory, and tenant key reuse the cached result until it expires. Its headline use case is reading secrets from 1Password without approving every read with your fingerprint. Options include TTL, absolute expiry, refresh, and directory-independent caching; only successful stdout is cached.
Why now: It was just released and featured on Hacker News as a new tool for caching CLI commands, notably to avoid repeated 1Password fingerprint prompts.
Who it is for: Developers on macOS or Linux who run expensive or interactive-auth commands (like op read) repeatedly in shell configs, direnv, or mise.
